How to Delete a Session Plan

Remove outdated or incorrect session plans from your club's library with the correct permissions.

Introduction

Over time, your Session Library can become cluttered with old drafts, test plans, or sessions that no longer fit your training schedule. Deleting unwanted session plans keeps your library organized and ensures coaches and players only see relevant plans. This guide walks you through the permanent removal of a session plan and explains who can perform this action.

Prerequisites

  • A BallersBook account with an active role that includes the manage_sessions permission (typically Coach, Club Admin, or Super Admin).
  • A session plan already saved in the Session Library.
  • Familiarity with the Sessions page and how to locate a specific plan (search and filter options are available).

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Log in to BallersBook and navigate to the Sessions page. (Look for Sessions in the main navigation menu.)

  2. Locate the session plan you want to delete. Use the search bar or filters (e.g., by season, date created) to narrow down the list if necessary.

  3. Click on the session plan card or row to open its Session Details view. This page shows the full plan including drills, drills, notes, and assigned groups.

  4. Find the Delete button.

  1. Click Delete. A confirmation dialog will appear to prevent accidental removal.

  2. In the confirmation dialog, click Confirm or Delete to permanently remove the session plan.

⚠️ Warning: This action is irreversible. The session plan and all its drill references will be deleted from your club’s database.

  1. (Optional) After deletion, you will be redirected back to the Sessions page. The deleted plan will no longer appear in the list.

Tips & Pitfalls

  • Permission check: If you cannot see the Delete button, your active role may lack manage_sessions. Switch to a different role using the Role Switcher in the navbar (if you have a multi-role account) or ask a Club Admin to upgrade your permissions.
  • Permanent removal: Deleted sessions are not recoverable. Consider exporting a PDF copy of the session (using the Export button in the details view) before deleting if you need an archive.
  • Orphaned drills: Deleting a session does not delete the individual drills used in it - they remain in the Drill Library.
  • Batch deletion: If you need to delete multiple sessions at once, contact your Super Admin; the current interface does not support bulk deletion.

Summary

Deleting a session plan cleans up your Session Library and ensures only active, relevant plans are available. Only users with the manage_sessions permission can perform this action. After deletion, you can create a fresh session using the New Session wizard or start with a template from the Plan Season generator. Always double-check before confirming, as the removal is permanent.
