How to Report a Bug and Configure Bug Report Settings

Learn how users can report bugs and how super-admins configure the bug report email address in Global Preferences.

Intro

Every club relies on its members to flag issues. BallersBook includes a feedback widget that lets users send bug reports directly to the club’s designated email address. Super‑admins can control where those reports go and - when the feature is fully implemented - filter, paginate, and update report statuses. This post covers what is currently available: configuring the bug report email and using the feedback widget as a user.

Prerequisites

  • A super‑admin account (only super‑admins can edit global settings).
  • For users reporting bugs: a BallersBook account and access to the app.
  • The Global Preferences page must be accessible from your navigation menu (present in all super‑admin accounts).

Step-by-step

Configuring the Bug Report Email (Super‑Admins)

  1. Log in with your super‑admin account.
  2. Click Global Preferences in the sidebar or top navigation.
  3. Scroll to the Bug Reports section.
  4. In the Bug Report Email field, enter the email address where you would like bug reports to be sent (e.g., bugs@myclub.com).
  5. Click Save at the bottom of the page.

💡 Tip: The email address you set here is used by the feedback widget when users submit a report. No other email addresses will receive these reports.

Reporting a Bug as a User

  1. While using any page in the BallersBook app, look for the Feedback button (typically a small icon in the bottom‑right corner of the screen).
  2. Click the button to open the feedback widget.
  3. Select Report a Bug from the options.
  4. Fill in the form:
  • Title: A short summary of the issue.
  • Description: Steps to reproduce the bug and any error messages you saw.
  • Screenshot (optional): Attach a screenshot if available.
  1. Click Send Report.

The report is sent directly to the club’s bug report email address (configured by your super‑admin).

Managing Bug Reports as a Super‑Admin

Currently, bug reports are delivered via email. A future version of BallersBook will include a Bug Reports dashboard where super‑admins can:

  • View all reports in a paginated table.
  • Filter by status, date, or priority.
  • Change a report’s status (e.g., from Open to In Progress, Resolved, or Closed).

Until that interface is available, treat bug reports as regular emails and update their status manually.

Tips & Pitfalls

  • Ensure the bug report email address is correct. If it is misspelled, reports will not be delivered.
  • Test the widget by sending a test bug from your own account.
  • If you do not see a feedback widget, check that the feature is enabled in your club’s subscription plan.
  • Super‑admins: Use a dedicated email address (e.g., bugs@) to keep reports separate from personal inbox clutter.

Summary

You now know how to configure the bug report email address in Global Preferences and how users can submit reports via the feedback widget. Super‑admins currently receive reports by email; a dedicated dashboard for filtering and updating statuses is planned.
