How to Configure Club Preferences for Global Content and Canvas Legend
Learn how to adjust your club's global content sharing and canvas legend display to control drill visibility and diagram appearance.
Intro
Club‑wide preferences let you control how your club interacts with the BallersBook platform. Two key settings affect every coach and player in your club: Allow Global Drills determines whether your team can see and use drills from other clubs, and Display Canvas Legend toggles the instructional legend on drill diagrams. Both are stored as fields on your club document and can be changed at any time by a club administrator.
Prerequisites
- A BallersBook account with the Club Admin role (the
super-adminrole can also manage these settings). - Access to the Club Settings page (typically found under your club’s name in the navigation bar).
Step-by-step
-
Log in to BallersBook with your admin account and navigate to the Club Settings page. If you don’t see this link, ask your super‑admin to grant you the appropriate permissions.
-
In the Preferences section of the page, locate the Allow Global Drills toggle. This setting controls whether your club’s drill library includes drills marked as
global(shared by the system or other clubs).
- On (default): All users in your club can see and use global drills alongside their own club drills.
- Off: Only drills that belong explicitly to your club (i.e., have your
club_id) will appear in the drill library.
- Find the Display Canvas Legend toggle. This setting determines whether drill diagrams rendered in the Draw Tool and drill cards show a visual legend (e.g., shape meanings, color codes).
- On: The legend is displayed by default for all diagrams.
- Off: The legend is hidden; your users can still toggle it individually from the Draw Tool’s options menu.
- After making your changes, click Save Preferences (or the equivalent button, often labelled Save Settings). A confirmation message will appear at the top of the page.
💡 Tip: Both settings take effect immediately for all users. No one needs to log out or refresh - the changes apply the next time they load a drill or diagram.
Tips & Pitfalls
-
Global Drills vs. Club Toggle on Drill Library The club‑level Allow Global Drills setting is different from the per‑user toggle in the drill library. If you turn off the club setting, even club admins won’t see the toggle for global drills on the library page. If you leave it on, individual users can still choose to view only their club’s drills by using the dropdown in the search bar.
-
Canvas Legend and Draw Tool Disabling the canvas legend at the club level does not remove the option to show it per diagram. Coaches can still enable it via the Draw Tool’s “Show Legend” checkbox. The club setting simply controls the default visibility.
-
Audit Logging Changes to these preferences are recorded in the
AUDIT_LOGcollection. If you ever need to see who changed the setting and when, check the audit log for your club. -
Guest Access Unauthenticated guest users (those visiting
/libraryor/draw) are not affected by your club preferences; they only see global drills and have their own independent legend display defaults.
Summary
Configuring club preferences is a quick way to tailor the BallersBook experience for your entire club. By toggling Allow Global Drills you control the breadth of drills available to your team, and by toggling Display Canvas Legend you decide how much guidance appears on drill diagrams. Both changes take effect immediately with no disruption to your users. Next, consider exploring other club‑wide settings such as season management or player registration passcodes.
