How to Switch Your Role in BallersBook
Learn how to change your active role in BallersBook when you have multiple roles like coach, parent, or admin.
Intro
In BallersBook, some users are assigned more than one role. For example, you might be both a coach and a parent, or a club admin who also coaches a team. When you have multiple roles, the pages and features you can access depend on which role you are currently using. Switching roles is easy and lets you move between your responsibilities without logging out. This guide shows you how to change your active role using the Role Switcher in the Navbar.
Prerequisites
- A BallersBook account with two or more roles assigned (e.g., coach and parent, or coach and club admin).
- You must be logged in to your account.
Step-by-step
-
Open BallersBook in your browser and log in if you haven’t already.
-
Look at the top navigation bar (Navbar). Find the Role Switcher dropdown. It typically shows your current active role (e.g., “Coach” or “Parent”).
-
Click the Role Switcher dropdown to expand it. A list of all roles assigned to your account will appear.
-
Select the role you want to switch to from the list. For example, click Parent if you want to use the parent view.
-
The page will update immediately. Your active role changes, and the Navbar now displays the new role. From this point, you will only see pages and features available to that role.
💡 Tip: If you do not see the Role Switcher dropdown, you likely have only one role assigned. Contact your club admin if you believe you should have additional roles.
Tips & Pitfalls
- Switching roles does not log you out or affect your other account details. It only changes the permissions and views shown.
- Some pages, like the Drill Library or Session Library, are available to most roles but with different levels of access (e.g., read-only for guests). Your active role determines exactly what you can do.
- If you are a club admin, you may also switch to a lower-privilege role to test what other users see. This is a great way to verify permissions.
- If you accidentally switch and cannot find a feature, simply switch back to your previous role using the same dropdown.
- The Role Switcher is only visible when you have more than one role. Users with a single role will not see it.
- Route access is strictly tied to the active role. For instance, selecting parent will hide coaching-specific features like Drill Creator (requires
manage_drillspermission).
Summary
Switching roles in BallersBook allows you to seamlessly move between different responsibilities, such as coaching a team and managing your child’s attendance. Use the Role Switcher dropdown in the Navbar to select any role assigned to your account. Your active role determines which pages and features are visible, so switch as needed to access the right tools for the task at hand. Next, explore the pages available to your new role - your Navbar will reflect the updated options.
