How to Switch Your Active Role

Learn how to switch your active role in BallersBook when you have multiple account roles assigned.

Intro

Many BallersBook users wear multiple hats. You might be a parent during the day and a coach at practice, or an admin who also tracks finances. The role you act under determines what you see and can do in the app. The Role Switcher lets you change your active session role instantly, so you can move between responsibilities without logging out.

Prerequisites

  • A BallersBook account with at least two roles assigned (e.g., coach and parent).
  • An active internet connection and a logged-in session.

Step-by-Step

  1. Log in to your BallersBook account.

  2. Look at the top-right corner of any page. In the Navbar, you will see the Role Switcher - it shows your currently active role (e.g., “Coach” or “Parent”).

  3. Click the Role Switcher dropdown. A list of all roles assigned to your account appears.

  4. Select the role you want to use from the list. For example, click Parent to see parent‑centric pages, or click Coach to access coaching features.

  5. The interface reloads automatically. The Navbar and page permissions update to match your new active role.

💡 Tip: The Role Switcher is only visible if you have more than one role assigned. If you see it, you can switch as often as needed during a session.

Tips & Pitfalls

  • If you do not see the Role Switcher, you likely have only one role on your account. Contact your club admin if you need an additional role.
  • Switching roles may hide or show certain menu items and pages. For example, switching from Admin to Parent might remove access to the Sessions tab.
  • Your active role persists until you change it again or log out. Closing and reopening the browser will keep the last selected role.
  • Roles like ai-reviewer and ai-admin-reviewer have very limited access to the app. Switching to them will restrict most pages.
  • ⚠️ Warning: Always ensure you are in the correct role before performing administrative actions (e.g., editing drills or sending communications). Some actions are role‑specific and may fail if attempted under the wrong role.

Summary

Switching roles in BallersBook is a quick one‑click action from the Navbar. Use the Role Switcher to move between your assigned roles and access the features you need. If you ever need to add or change roles, reach out to your club’s admin or a super‑admin.
